Customer Service Representative

Hi, I’m Brittany, the Customer Service Representative at Akeso Veterinary Clinic. I started working with Dr. Dorazio in August of 2020 after moving back to the Pittsburgh area from sunny, sandy North Carolina. I grew up having animals & have continued that with my own family. I am recently married to my partner of 11 years (Ken) & together we have 2 amazing sons; Steel & Wave. We spend our time taking care of our dog, cats & guinea pig when we’re not at a baseball or soccer game.

Kara H.

Veterinary Technician

Hi, I’m Kara, one of the Technicians at Akeso. I’ve been a Veterinary Technician for about 25 years (which is impressive since I’m only 37). When I’m not taking care of your fur children, I enjoy gardening, spending time with my family & getting away to the beach. I love homemade cherry pie almost as much as I hate rare steaks. When I’m at home, I’m taking care of my dog (Rikki) & his 3 feline siblings (Larry, Curly & Redd).

Cami F.

Veterinary Technician

Hi! I’m Cami, one of the technicians here at Akeso! I have been working here for 4 years as a seasonal employee while in school. When I’m not here, I am an EMT, helping with my nephews, or running around my farm. I love everything medicine, animals, and people!! Chicken is my lifeline food and if I have $4.00 left in my bank account, it will be spent on a Dunkin’ coffee.

Maddie V.

Veterinary Technician

Hi, I’m Maddie, one of the technicians at Akeso. I have been in the field for about 4 years, and am in school to eventually be an RVT. I spend my free time with my blind mini dachshund, 3 cats, 3 leopard geckos, crested gecko, and axolotl. I like to garden, listen to music, and read as well.

Courtney J.

Veterinary Technician

Hi, I’m Courtney, one of the technicians at Akeso. I’m currently a student at Pennwest- California to become a CVT. I spent my free time around the family farm with the cattle, goats, my cat (Dusty) and the farm dog, Sadie. I also spend my weekends tractor pulling with my family.

Emily G.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Hi, I’m Emily, a registered veterinary technician. I graduated with my bachelors in specialty technology from the Vet Tech Institute of Pittsburgh in 2015. I am k-laser certified, and continue to get other accreditations while working in the field. When I’m not at Akeso, I’m usually tattooing in my studio or watching black and white movies/tv shows. I have 5 cats whom I’ve rescued over the years of being a tech. I do not like birds.

Carissa B.

Veterinary Technician In Training

Hi, I’m Carissa, a technician in training at Akeso. I’m from Monongahela and studied at CalU. I volunteered with various rescues and realized working with animals is my passion so I decided to pursue that full time. I love practicing ‘Fear Free’ vetting and especially love the animals I meet that challenge me to be patient with them and understand their boundaries. When I’m not loving on your pets, I enjoy volunteering, gardening, my german shepherd/lab mix (Channing Tatum) & vacationing…especially in Jamaica.

Chris M.

Animal Care Volunteer

Hi, I’m Chris and I am from Beaver, PA. I am a volunteer at the practice. After retiring from 30+ years in healthcare, I traded my medical interest in people to the four-legged members of our families. I am a life-long pet owner and have been a Puppy Raiser for Pilot Dogs who provide service dogs to the blind and have to meet EVERY puppy who comes through our doors! My pack includes Tessa, Sophia and Lila.

Buddy and Tortie Pie

Office Mascots

You may have seen our clinic mascots around the office: Buddy & Torti Pie. Buddy is our handsome, sweet, big, tailless boy and lives to love (and be loved!). He’s been hanging out here with us for a few years and has certainly become a staple in all of our days. As calm, quiet and wonderful as Buddy is, Torti Pie is the yin to his yang. She is a DIVA (with a capital D) and has an incredibly loud purr. This petite little dragon will lure you in asking for scratches and then quickly let you know that she, in fact, does not want you to scratch her. (Think of a Sour Patch Kid, but the opposite). No matter the moods they’re in, seeing them in the office every morning certainly brightens our moods.
